Navman company and product information

By Rebecca Blain

Navman is among the three top navigational companies in the world.

In order to compete with both Magellan and Garmin, Navman GPS devices are among the best rated in the United States and Canada for ease of use and accuracy.

As the levels of competition are pretty high, Navman has worked to gain the lead in the market by providing high quality electronics for an affordable cost.

Established in 1988, the company has a long history of being in the navigations market, creating devices such as the Navman G-Pilot for auto-piloting boats, and the Navman 620, for use as an in-car navigation system. They have also made devices such as chart plotters and fish finders.

The most popular Navman units include the Navman 620 and the Navman 630, which are in-car navigation systems.

The 620 is popular among low to mid income households, as the device is quite affordable while still having a variety of different features. All of the accessories required to safely use the device are included, which put it a step above many of the other devices in the same class.

Unlike Garmin and Magellan units, the mounts for both the 620 and 630 use suction cups, so the mounts can be transferred to any vehicle extremely easily. The Navman 630 is a more complete version of the 620, and well worth the investment, if you choose to pay the additional 100 to 200 dollars for the device.

Navman electronics are designed to be as durable, which is done through the removal of many moving parts. While the flash memory on the primary device is small, an additional 20 dollars can ensure that you have all of the maps you require for a long road trip.
